Baldersbrau

Not too much is known about this place. Below are some comments from people who have at one time stayed at the Baldersbrau.

Comments
"There are a few nice hotels (most of which are owned by Iceland Air) in Reykjavik, but the best way to understand the people and culture is in a B&B. The rooms are quite large (with those large windows!) and very comfortable. This B&B has a 'hot pot' (hot tub) and sauna which are wonderful after a day of walking the city. The Inn keepers are extremely helpful in creating itineraries for day trips and even arranging a rental car. I have to admit, I was a bit leary when I just left the rental car at the B&B when the FlyBus came to pick me up for the airport. I was told 'someone will pick it up later'. Breakfast served in the main dining room is plentiful and is standard European. If you have a special request, just tell someone the day before so they can go shopping for you".Reviewed by Joey on 9/14/2000. Highly Recommended

"The Baldasbrau truly is a gem of a place to stay. My husband and I were made to feel extremely welcome by the owners, Joachim and Ariane, who could not do enough for us. We were given lots of useful information before we arrived, such as where to catch the bus from the airport, where to (and where not to) change money and info on tours etc. The bus from the hotel back to the airport was arranged for us by Ariane. The Baldasbrau is a cosy and immmaculately clean place to stay and about a 3 minute walk into the centre of Reykjavik. Great 'library', hot tub, good, hearty breakfast (included in the price), cable tv (though there is so much to see in Iceland, you wouldn't have time for TV). It is a very relaxed place with an amazingly welcoming atmosphere. Shall certainly stay there again when we next visit Reykjavik". December 28, 2003: A TripAdvisor Member, London, UK

Stayed here on the recommendation of friends, and while it was very nice, it was not quite as intimate as we had hoped. No full, double or queen sized beds, so my partner and I were sleeping in twin beds. Traditional German Continental breakfast was good - they slice the breakfast meats so thin, you would think the host was trained in a New York deli! But the variety wasn't great. However, the B&B is very close to town, and in a beautiful neighborhood close to several great restaurants, and it's a good location from which to start a walking tour of the city. Prices are reasonable. Did not have a chance to use the hot-tub/sauna facilities, but I have been told they are splendid! December 3, 2003: A TripAdvisor Member, London, UK
