Laugavegur, the main shopping street of Iceland's capital, Reykjavik, rises along the side of the city's central hill. A look down its side streets provides an ever-improving view of the bay as the visitor climbs to the crest of the street. There, at the top of the rise, sits Room With A View, one of the gay-owned guesthouses in Reykjavik.

Today they are among the best accommodations in Reykjavik. Thoroughly modern, each commands a dazzling view of the bay, the harbor, and towering Mt. Esja across the water. A jacuzzi on the outdoor deck completes the indulgent ambience.

Just so very grateful that we did not stay in one of the hotels, some were so far out it would have spoilt the whole trip. We stayed in Studio 512 which was quiet and just as the photos on the web site show. Siggi was very helpful. It was just so nice to come back after an exhausting day to a comfy room with sofa, music, a lovely view (a cup of tea) etc. On the nights we did not eat out we could cook and relax. It was right in the centre of everything so we did not freeze (too much!!) walking around town. I simply don't know why anyone in their right mind would choose one of the hotels when they could stay here. Thanks Siggi for a lovely stay in Room with a View and Reykjavik.
